What changed
PlayOn's banner offered only 'Agree', its opt-outs couldn't stop web tracking and it ignored signals. Ford made people verify their email to opt out. Both must honor GPC.
Who it affects
CCPA businesses using ad trackers, especially with student or teen audiences.
What to do
- Give your banner a real opt-out; never gate content behind 'Agree'.
- Offer an opt-out with no email check or log-in.
- Scan your site for trackers at least quarterly.
